Introduction to math problems:
Mathematics is the study of quantity, structure, space, and change. Mathematicians seek out patterns, formulate new conjectures, and establish truth by rigorous deduction from appropriately chosen axioms and definitions. Mathematics is used throughout the world as an essential tool in many fields, including natural science, engineering, medicine, and the social sciences. (Source: From Wikipedia). Now, we are going to see some of the math problems. From these problem, we can get clear view about how to solve the math problems easily. I like to share this basic math problems with you all through my article.
Example math problems:
Example 1: Solve the equation for the variable x: 5x + 20 = 8x + 50
Solution:
5x + 20 = 8x + 50
Subtract 20 on both sides of the equation
5x + 20 - 20 = 8x + 50 – 20
5x = 8x + 30
Subtract 8x on both sides of the equation
5x – 8x = 8x + 30 – 8x
-3x = 30
Divide by -3 on both sides of the equation
-3x / -3 = 30 / -3
x = -10
So, the answer is x = -10.
Example 2: Simplify the expression: 20x – 22 + 8x - x + 30
Solution: Add the like terms in the given expression
20x – 22 + 8x - x + 30 = 20x + 8x - x – 22 + 30
= (20 + 8 -1) x + (-22 + 30)
= 27 x + 8
So, the answer is 27x + 8.
Few more math problems:
Example 3: John divides a circular disc of radius 3.5 cm into two equal parts. Find the perimeter of each semicircular disc?
Solution:
The perimeter of the semicircular disc is equal to the circumference of semicircular disc plus diameter.
Given that radius (r) = 3.5 cm.
We know that the circumference of circle = 2*pie*r
So, the circumference of the semicircle disc = (1 / 2) *2*pie*r = pie*r
= (22 / 7) *3.5cm = 11 cm
The diameter of the circle = 2r = 2 × 3.5 cm = 7 cm
So, the perimeter of each semicircular disc = 11 cm + 7cm = 18 cm
Example 4: Find the perimeter of the rectangle whose length is 7cm and the width is 2cm.
Solution:
Length of the rectangle is 7cm.
Width of the rectangle is 2cm.
Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(length + width)
= 2(7 + 2)
= 2(9)
= 18cm.
So, the perimeter of the rectangle is 18cm.
Practice Problems With Answer:
