Finding the scale factor:
A Scale factor is the number which Scales or multiplies some quantity.
The ratio of any two corresponding lengths in the two similar Geometric figures is called as a Scale Factor. The factor by which the readings of an instrument or the solution of a problems should be multiplied and to give the true final value when a corresponding scale factors are used initially to bring the magnitude within the range of the instrument or the computer.
In other words, the ratio of the length of the scale drawing to the corresponding lengths of the actual objects are called as Scale Factor. This is used for finding scale factor.
Explanation about finding Scale Factor:
A scale factor is the number which used as a multiplier in such scaling.
A scale factor is used to scale the shapes in 1, 2, or 3 dimensions.
Scale factor can be identified in the following scenarios:
1. Size Transformation: While in size transformation, the scale factor is the ratio of expressing the amount of the magnification.
2. Scale Drawing: While In scale drawing, the scale factor is the ratio of measurement of the drawing which comparing and finding the measurement of the original figure.
3. Comparing Two Similar Geometric Figures: While in the scale factor when comparing two similar geometric figures which is the ratio of lengths of the corresponding sides.
Example for finding scale factor:
ABCD and PQRS are the two similar polygons. Then the scale factor of the polygon ABCD to polygon PQRS is the ratio of the lengths of their corresponding sides.
Scale factor = BC:QR = 3:8.

If we create spatial reference systems and any of the coordinates that we are working with the decimal values, and calculate the appropriate scale factors for our coordinates and the measures. The Scale factors are numbers that, when multiplied by the decimal coordinates and by the measures, yields integers with at least the same number of the significant digit as the original coordinates and measures.
