Introduction to Number line subtraction:

Number line:

In the mathematical explanation, a number line is a picture of a straight line on which every point is assumed to correspond to a real number and every real number to a point. Often the integers are shown as specially-marked points evenly spaced on the line.

Subtraction:

Subtraction is a basic arithmetic operation. The subtraction is a inverse of addition and it denoted by the minus sign in infix notation. If we start with any number and the add any number and then subtract the same number we can get the started number. For example  2 + 3 -3 = 2.

Subtracting a Number Using Number Line:
The subtracting number in a number line is easy way to understanding a subtraction problem.

For example: 4 – 2 =?

From the number 4. We need to hop 2 values to the left side.

So we will land on the number 2.

So 4 – 2 = 2.

The description of this example is when we add 2 numbers
We must we start one of the number then we hop to the right value on the other value.
When we subtract a number must we start at the first number
And then move to the left the value of the second number.

Examples of Subtracting Number - Number Line

Example 1:

6 – (-3)

Solution:

The product of negative sign and negative sign to form as positive sign. In this example the – and -3 is formed by +3.

So 6 – (-3) = 6 + 3 =7

Therefore from the number, we have to three places forward. So we will get answer on the number 9.

Example 2:

5 – (-6)

Solution:

The product of negative sign and negative sign to form as positive sign. In this example the – and -6 is formed by +6.

So -5 – (-6) = -5 + 6

In Number line we Initial start with -5 and then we have to 6 places forward so we get 1 is the answer.

So , The answer is 1.
